Central Murray and Wimmera Football Netball Leagues Announce
Two-Year Interleague Partnership

The Central Murray Football Netball League (CMFNL) and Wimmera Football Netball League (WFNL) are
excited to announce a new two-year interleague partnership, committing to a series of representative
competitions across football and netball.

The first year of the partnership will take place on Saturday, 3 July 2027, with the Wimmera FNL hosting
the inaugural event before the Central Murray FNL welcomes Wimmera to Swan Hill for year two.

The partnership will see the two leagues compete across four competitions:
Under 18 Football
Senior Men’s Football
Under 18 Netball
Senior Women’s Netball

The agreement will provide players with the opportunity to represent their respective leagues, test
themselves against a strong opposition and be part of an exciting representative football and netball
program.

Both leagues are enthusiastic about the partnership and the opportunity to establish a strong and
competitive interleague fixture that showcases the talent within their respective competitions. The
agreement also provides an opportunity to strengthen connections between the leagues and create an
exciting experience for players, coaches, officials and supporters.

Central Murray FNL General Manager, Jessie Chester, said:

“We’re really excited to have this partnership locked in with Wimmera FNL. There’s been a real appetite
for interleague competitions across football and netball, particularly in the senior ranks for us, so
securing a two-year agreement with a quality opposition is fantastic.”

“Interleague gives players a great opportunity to represent the league with pride and test themselves
against the very best. I’m looking forward to strengthening the relationship between our two leagues and
exploring other opportunities that may come from it. We can’t wait to head to Wimmera in 2027 and
welcome them to Swan Hill in 2028.”

Wimmera District FNL League Manager, Corey Fox, said:

“This will be the Wimmera Leagues first foray back into senior interleague post COVID. The enthusiasm
from the Board, the clubs and most importantly the players themselves is tremendous. The big W will be
back in senior competition and ready for a contest of epic proportions.”

“ We also look forward to working with our new friends from the Central Murray League and all of the
positives this relationship will bring.”

With the first year to be hosted by the Wimmera FNL and the second year by the Central Murray, both
leagues are looking forward to bringing the partnership to life and seeing their players pull on their
league colours and compete with pride.

Further details regarding venues and match arrangements will be communicated by both leagues in due
course.
