Check out all the action & insights from our first Junior Netball Interleague Tournament for 2026, held in Shepparton yesterday!
13 Champs:
9 games played throughout the day, 6 of those wins and 3 losses with a combined losing margin of 16 goals against some strong competitors. The team made it through to the finals narrowly losing by 7 goals.
Top Performers:
Rubi Kelly & Maya Henry – both played consistently every game taking many intercepts and rebounds throughout the day!
Coach Vicki’s Comments:
“What a huge day on court — with 9 games ahead of us, it was always going to be a challenge to keep exhaustion away and energy levels up! The girls showed a fantastic overall team effort, with every player stepping up, playing their role, and each having moments where they really stood out. For our first tournament together as a team, it was a great learning opportunity — we came up against some very tall opposition and learnt just how important it is to come forward, keep our frustrations in check, use our voices, and back each other. Trying out many different combinations throughout the day didn’t deter us, and we still pushed through to play a 10th game in the semi-final. We came up against a very strong, taller opposition who proved too good on the day, but making it that far is something to be really proud of.”
13 Reserves:
7 games played throughout the day, 4 of those were wins. With the three loses by a total combined margin of only 7 goals. The girls displayed great defensive pressure creating turnovers & great team attitudes.
Top Performers:
Marley Brown – A strong option in goals with great positioning
Maeve McIntyre – Strong drives and leads – very reliable
Willow Cadd – Amazing defence and court movement
Coach Belinda’s Comments:
“Our 13 Res team came together for the girls’ time and showed fantastic teamwork and determination throughout the day. By the end of the day our team had made impressive improvement, showing great sportsmanship and positivity. All girls should be very proud of their efforts in their very first interleague tournament!”
15 Champs:
8 Games played throughout the day, winning 5 of those, and making it through to the Semi Final. The girls adapted well to various combinations throughout the day but bringing the ball out of defence into attack was great to watch. Plenty to build on for the next tournament.
Top Performers:
Maggie Shields – Defensive pressure & great turnover stats
Zarli Anderson – Versatility to be thrown into any position and play it well
Evie Kelly – Consistent and reliable over the whole day
Coach Chloe’s Comments:
“The girls performed really well. They stayed as a group for the whole day. We also got complimented by the Umpires at the end of the day as the cleanest team they umpired all day! What a win.”
15 Reserves:
Played 8 games throughout the day, winning 7 of those, and making it through to Finals, played off in the Semi-final and was successful with a 4-goal win, and then played the Murray League in the Grand Final and displayed a dominate performance, winning the tournament in their division 20 – 10!
Top Performers:
Sophie Kentish – Consistent all tournament & strong
Willow Vearing – Shot beautifully all tournament & especially in pressure moments
Abbey Wishart – Played her role in every position she went to.
Coach Jorja’s Comments:
“The girls were really cohesive as a group and supported each other. They were able to compose themselves and settle in tough games. The transition from defence to attack was great and the team were super positive all day!”
17 Champs:
Played 7 games throughout the day winning all 7 and making it into the finals. The girls proved dominate again in the Semi progressing through to the Grand Final and unfortunately going down to the Goulburn Valley League by 3 goals.

Coach Mel’s Comments:
“The girls all played really well, defeating the eventual Grand Final winners during the Round Robin. As the day progressed, they played some quality netball showing ongoing improvement and working together beautifully as a team. All nine players contributed strongly across the day and demonstrated what a talent group of netballers we have.”
