Murrabit Football Netball Club
In the netball, we started bright and early in the chilly morning with our legendary Under 12’s. Awards this week went to Zoe Indi, Sunny, Mahli and Emily.
The Under 14s were on fire over the weekend, delivering a 44 goal win over Ultima. We started strong with a 10 goal lead, thanks to Paisley Fisher-Couzens' brilliant defensive work, shutting down her opponent and limiting Ultima’s attacking options. Our defensive pressure held Ultima to just 7 goals for the game, while Elada Jacques and Charlotte Keath impressed through the midcourt with their strong leads and relentless hustle. A great all-round team performance!
The Under 17s remain undefeated after a convincing 56 to 21 goal win over Ultima. It was a tight first quarter, with just one goal separating the teams, but we shifted gears in the second quarter and pulled away with speed and control. Lexi McKnight was electric through the midcourt, using her pace to outwork her opponents. Macy Bray stood strong in the defensive ring, applying constant pressure with quick footwork and smart positioning. In the goal ring, Ivy Shea led by example, providing strong leads and shooting with great accuracy.
Our C Grade team had a tough start, with Ultima setting the tone early and dominating from the first centre pass. Ivy Shea impressed in just her second game of the day, shooting a game-high 29 goals with strong holds and smart positioning in the circle. Ultima continued to build their lead across the match. We found our rhythm in the final quarter, but by then it was too late and Ultima secured a 9 goal win. Belle Morton was solid through the midcourt, providing strong defensive pressure and consistent delivery into the circle.
The B res team were seeking revenge after losing by 1 goal the last time these two sides met. However, it was Ultima who took home the 4 points again. After a tough first half, the Roo’s continued to chip away and followed through into the second half to beat our girls by 31 goals. Macy Bray had the slick moves in the goal ring and Taylah Collier was a speed machine in the midcourt.
B Grade notched up another dominant win as the team continues to solidify its spot at the top of the ladder. A fast start saw us 8 goals up at quarter time and 13 ahead by the main break. The second half was just as impressive, with clean ball movement and strong connections across the court helping us seal an 18 goal victory. Sadie Spitty was unstoppable in the goal circle, using her reach and strong holds to rack up an incredible 51 goals. Down the defensive end, Jessie Teasdale was a standout in defence, applying relentless pressure and showing real hunger for the contest.
A Grade had a slow start, taking a while to settle into the game. Momentum shifted in the second quarter as the team lifted their intensity and to the lead by 7 goals at half time. Lauren Morrow set the tone in C, combining both athleticism and composure. Montana Keating brought spark and versatility, making an impact through both the midcourt and goal circle. The team continued to build across the second half, steadily extending their lead to come away with a strong 10 goal win.
