ROUND 14 Review v. Moulamein

Holly came to Macorna as a senior player and is currently a member of our A grade team. She’s a fit and fair player who makes her opponent work hard.

Holly’s ability to drive hard down the court for the ball is a strength of hers as is her intercepting and rebounding ability. She is a quiet achiever who is consistent, never complains and just puts her head down and gets to work!

Hol has had a few seasons off to have her beautiful boys Banjo and Jarli who we often see on the netball court during training and on the sideline on a Saturday. In the years she was pregnant Hol put up her hand to coach our B reserve side.

She loves being at Macorna with her husband Josh and her family: Billy and Brooke, Sam and Kass and their families. We just love having Hol as a part of our Macorna family.

This weekend Haylee Forster plays her 100th game for Macorna!
Haylee has yellow and black in her blood and was surprised how quickly her 100 games have racked up as she has had some broken arms along the way.
You’ll see Haylee in the midcourt for B grade this season. She played her juniors at the club, (where she played interleague and won best and fairests) and has played B reserve. She was an integral part of our B grade Grand Final team last season.
Haylee is best suited to the mid court, and can play C, WA, or WD. However in the past she has also been known to shoot a few goals.
Haylee is also a keen umpire for our club and always jumps in to complete jobs (not sure where she gets that from) around the place that are key to our club running so smoothly.
Hayza is a great person to have on your team, not only for her competitive nature and want to learn but for her funny one liners that we have the pleasure of hearing most weeks.

Unfortunately the girls had some games on the weekend that came down to the wire but we just couldn’t get over the line.

A grade needed to win to cement the 4 points over Moula and they went down by a goal. Holly was magnificent in her 100 game and so was Kara Farrell who again came on and was the difference. We are still alive if we beat Ultima this weekend and the way we are playing at the moment, anything is possible!!

B grade won’t see finals action this year, our injury woes and inconsistency this season just didn’t allow us to fire. On a positive note, junior Summer Starr came up and played a cracking game and got BOC. She was accompanied by Shamana Bacon who played wonderfully.

B Reserve  - A great game today by our girls. We came out strong today taking the lead early and keeping it through out the whole game. With only a few weeks till finals we took the opportunity to try a few new positions and everyone stepped up and did well. Big congratulations to Sherri Sutherland on 350 amazing games in the yellow and black.

17s - Much better game this week against Moulamein, the girls got off to a fantastic start with a commanding lead at the end of the first quarter.  Moulamein fought back over the next three, however we showed some grit and determination to take the win by 10 goals.  Awards went to Indi Crilly for her relentless defence, coming up with multiple intercepts and to Evie Mackenzie for her her great drives and direction in the mid court and again showing great leadership skills.

U14 - The first half we kept up to Moulamein with beautiful passages of play seeing Breeze & Abbey finishing off with some great goals. 

Unfortunately The Swans went away with the game in the second half.   Grace was awarded the HUSK Best On Court for her amazing passing into the ring and her continuous talk.  Cienna got our Club award for her performance in defence. 

U12 - Some days things don't go your way, and we had one of those days on Saturday. Despite this, the girls all held their heads high and played their hardest the whole game, putting goals up and moving well throughout the court. We had some great defensive work in mid court, and our defenders worked hard to get rebounds in the ring. It's so great to see the improvement all the girls have made this year, across every position.
