Macorna Round 7
A Grade
It was a chilly, slow start to the first quarter, but after some changes and a rev-up from the bench, the girls began to find their rhythm by the end of the second. Their momentum carried through the rest of the game, winning the final two quarters. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to close the gap, going down by 8 in the end.
Awards: Noonan (Sammi Moon) – Started her first two quarters in WA, then was thrown into GA where she starred, moving and shooting beautifully. (MFNC & Kat Robbo)
Imogen Broad – Once again showcased her skill, grit, and determination across the whole game. (Kimmy Cafe)
Kelly Burns (Allure Glamour)
Great effort from all the girls!
B Grade
It was a competitive game played by the girls, they really showed they wanted this win. Starting the game strong and backing each other the whole way, their teamwork and determination were clear throughout.
Awards: Holly Cameron– Played in defence with a strong presence and excellent ability to read the play. (Avenue Health)
Brooke Allison – Also played in defence, showing great strength and game awareness, reading the play superbly. (Allure Glamour & Kimmy’s Cafe)
Another strong effort from the team.

With a few girls out sick and several still managing injuries, it was fantastic to see Summer from U17 step up into wing defence. She played a mature and composed game against a strong opponent.
Stacey also stepped in and worked seamlessly with Sam in goals, with Sam sinking several impressive long-range shots. Mandy and Alicia were rock-solid in defence as always, keeping the pressure on and turning over crucial ball.
Taylah took on a new role in wing attack and absolutely smashed it, bringing speed and great feeds into the circle. Leeza led by example, delivering a captain’s knock and dominating in centre court — earning best on court honours.
A great team effort and a well-deserved win!

With a few players out sick this week, it was great to see some of our U17s step up and take the court — a fantastic show of depth and team spirit.
A special moment saw Hannah and Mandy play together in their milestone games — a heartwarming Macorna family story that made the day even more special.
Alex was solid all game in centre, controlling the midcourt with confidence. Lucy and Dee worked hard in defence, pulling off some great interceptions and deflections that kept us in the contest.
Although it was a loss on the scoreboard, the girls played a fantastic team game with some brilliant passages of play. With continued effort like this, there’s no doubt we’ll get the win over Wandella next time.

The game after the bye proved to be a tough one, but we gave all we had to keep fighting until the end. Missing one of our key players, the girls pulled together as a team and powered through, a highlight from the game being their terrific defensive pressure.
Miley got the award for her outstanding game, being a strong option in the midcourt and showing grit and determination fighting for every ball. Then Kaiya who had a terrific defensive game, stepping up and doing what we needed her to, earning plenty of intercepts and turnovers. We'll keep building, still areas that need more work, but the girls a playing together better every week.
UNDER 14
The girls really meant business this weekend, leaving it all out on the court and winning by 15 goals. There were lots of changes this weekend and lots of girls playing positions they don’t usually play; however, this didn’t affect the girls and they still did everything they could and everything that was asked of them. It was incredibly hard to pick best on's this round as everybody displayed the best version of themselves. Our best on's though were Blair Stevenson, a very talented young player that puts in 110% effort wherever she’s playing and does everything that is asked of her. Our other best on was Abbey Wishart, a very smart, reliable and accurate goalie who sank 33 of our 48 goals for the game and displayed great leadership to the girls. Lots of exciting talent coming from this U14s side!!
UNDER 12
A great game this week against Wandella, where the girls were evenly matched all game. All the girls who played in the goals managed to score, showing great team work and consistency. There was some great positioning in the ring and vision by mid courters making great passes into the ring. Our defenders worked hard with plenty of intercepts and chasing lose balls. We worked on front cuts this week, and it was so great to see all players putting this into practice on the court, leading in front for the ball.
Awards this week went to Alannah (MFNC Tiger cash) for her tenacity throughout mid court, intercepting and chasing down loose balls, and to Olivia (MMWFP) for her first game in goals where she showed great movement and support around the court.
