The CM-GR Academy, proudly sponsored by Academy Graphics, returned in 2025, and this time it looked a little different!

We had some familiar and well respected Netball Personalities from the Region ready to dive in and upskill our up and coming talented Netballers. This program is designed to develop their  netball knowledge, both on and off the court, as well as prepare them for the year ahead.

Our Coaches were there every step of the way to help them achieve the goals they set out. The program was held each Sunday in February, to allow participants to get back into their netball early and be primed for the 2025 Season.

Sessions will included:

- Athlete Testing & Development

- Dynamic Warm up's & proper Recovery thanks to Central Mallee Health

- Speed & Footwork

- Fuelling your body / Nutrition Education Session

- Posisional Craft

- Attacking / Defensive Work

-Game Play

- Specila Guest Speaker

- Opportunity to re-test for Elite Athelte Testing (post 4 weeks)

CM-GR Academy is a talent program, aimed at 13, 14 & 15 year olds (born 2010-2012), which had 40 positions available for 2025. If more than 40 player registered, participant selections will be made by an independent panel of Central Murray and Golden Rivers coaches and officals based on the applications received.

This year CM-GR Academy will comprise of 4 Sessions:

Session 1 - Sunday, Februray 2nd 10am-1pm

Session 2 - Sunday, Februray 9th 10am-1pm

Session 3 - Sunday, Februray 16th 10am-1pm

Session 4 - Sunday, Februray 23rd 10am-1pm

These sessions were held at the Swan Hill Basketball Stadium. 

We had 40 participants, led by Mel Wait, Coaches were Tessa DeMaria, Casey Frame, Tayla Foster, Sheridan Harrop and Mads Nalder.

Netball Interleague

Central Rivers Interleague Carnival saw a big day across Swan Hill Rec, Alan Garden Reserve & Alan Garden Courts. With 6 football games and 3 netballs games it was a massive day for the Central Rivers community. Bare with us whilst say a few BIG thank yous: Swan Hill Football Netball & Tyntynder Football Netball Club for opening up their club rooms, change rooms & hosting the games. To the Sunrise Rotary group for manning our gates. Sunraysia FNL & HCNA for making the journey to play our squads. To all parents, grandparents, friends & supporters who came out and celebrated the day. To ALL of our umpires across football & netball - our games don’t go ahead without you. To all of the incredibe volunteers who assisted across the day; team managers, canteen, umpire escorts, runners, water carriers, timekeepers, primary carers, scorebord operstors, court supervisors. Thank you to Tracy Roberts for her amazing photos. Thank you to our four amazing trainers: Blackers, Bob, Erin & Noodle - not only for Saturday but for the past 10 weeks. Our incredible sponsors who without we would not be able to run days like this. And last but certainly not least, all of our amazing coaches. Without your passion, commitment & dedication these programs don’t run - so thank you so much, we are so grateful for you.

Foott Earthmoving Junior Netball Interleague

Interleague is a talent development program, which gives the best junior netballers in our League’s the opportunity to participate at a higher level.  

The Central Rivers Region fill 6 squads – Central Murray 13 & Under, Golden Rivers 13 & Under, Central Murray 15 & Under, Golden Rivers 15 & Under, Central Murray 17 & Under and Golden Rivers 17 &Under – who compete at various Interleague tournaments throughout the season. 

The tournaments for 2024 are as below: 

Echuca District Netball Tournament Sunday 18th May
Bendigo Netball Tournament Sunday 15th June View Results
Northern Region Association Championship Qualifying Tournament Sunday 1st June View Results

Performing well at the Northern Region Association Championship Qualifying Tournament in Bendigo, may see the girls qualify for finals. The top two league teams for this tournament, in each age group, will progress to the Association Championship State Finals Day in Melbourne. 

Interleague is a major component of the Netball Victoria Talent Pathway, where up-and-coming netballers from regional and metropolitan areas are assessed on their skills and potential. Talent Scouts attend each tournament date, inviting selected players to attend Talent Academy trials. 

Congratulations and good luck to all players, coaches and umpires who represent the Central Rivers Leagues’ in 2025, and a big thanks to Foott Earthmoving for their ongoing sponsorship of the program.

Player of the Day: Team effort, but if we had to pick one, Ruby Ryan.

Coaches Notes: After injury & illness, some quick changes to the team were made and some great netball was played. Defensive pressure all over the court was outstanding. Playing with only 8, the girls did an amazing job to make the finals, but tiredness got them in the end losing their first final.
