    TIGERS WIN GREAT CLASH WITH COHUNA

    WOORINEN fought to claim a two-point victory against Cohuna Kangas in Saturday’s 13th round of senior footy in the Central Murray FNL season.

    The Tigers and Kangas played one of the games of the season in the 3SH-backed competition.

    Woorinen led 21-12 at quarter-time of the clash on its turf and 36-26 by the main break.

    The Kangas lifted to score 3.4 to 2.1 in the third term.

    In a brilliant finish it was the Tigers who held on 10.8 (68) to 9.12 (66).

    Woorinen’s attack was led by Will Collicoat and Matt Gardner on two each.

    Rhys Free and Joel Helman kicked three goals for the Kangas as Dylan Johnstone added two.

    Best for Woorinen were Taylor Cameron, Robert Rush, Jye Barry, Lachlan Warburton, Dylan Godwin and Josh Domaille.

    Jake Hammond, Rhys Free, Joel Helman, Jarrod Findlay, Cooper McLoughlan and Chris Anderson were Cohuna’s best.


    Balranald marked a 39-point win against Tyntynder at Balranald’s Greenham Park.

    A high-scoring contest went the Kangaroos way, 19.11 (125) to 13.8 (86).

    Balranald led by 14 points at three quarter-time and then scored 5.3 to 1.2 in the last.

    Ben Fuller was in superb touch as he kicked eight goals for the Kangaroos.

    Other multiple goalkickers for Balranald were Drew Lloyd and Jydon Neagle, three; Ethan Gant, two.

    Tyntynder’s attack was led by Patrick Blake, Josh Dwyer and Justin Ellis, three, and Tyrone Bean, two.

    Best for Balranald were Ben Fuller, Matt Neagle, Ethan Gant, Toby Lay, Ryan Middlebrook and Drew Lloyd.

    Matt Gilbee, Elia Ware, Patrick Blake, Josh Dwyer, Josh Stone and Harry Simpson played well for the Bulldogs.


    Lake Boga dominated the second half of its showdown with Mallee Eagles at Lake Boga Sports Club.

    The Magpies led 19-14 at quarter-time and 33-17 by the long break.

    In the second half Lake Boga scored 10.8 to 2.4 to claim a 101-27 victory.

    Lochie Laing kicked a match-high five goals for the Magpies as Nathaniel Holmes-Brown and Jayden Lonergan added three.

    There were no multiple goalkickers for the Eagles.

    Best for the Magpies were Jake Warren, Lincoln Sieben, Matt Taverna, Tyle Williams, Lochie Laing and Jacob Simpson.

    Harry McGregor, Zac O’Meara, Angus McKenzie, Harrison Allen, Beau Bennett and Josh Bibby were the Eagles’ best.


    A six-goal haul by Hassan Ahmat-Watkins was a highlight in Nyah Nyah West United’s big win against Koondrook Barham at Barham.

    The Demons led 47-12 at quarter-time and then slammed on 11.4 to nil in the second.

    The NNWU line-up kicked on to score 28.17 (185) to 5.6 (36).

    Other multiple goalkickers for the Demons were Nic and Zac Threadgold, three; Brayden Bigham, Oliver Boulton, Corey Daniels, Campbell Everitt and Ethan Saville, two.

    Andrew Edwards kicked two goals for the River Raiders.

    Best for the Demons were Mitch Grinham, Zack Threadgold, Campbell Everitt, Ethan Saville, Nic Threadgold and Brayden Bigham.

    Reagan Hamilton, Scott Wood, Colin McVeigh, Ash Molin, Patrick Goble and Jack Thrum were Koondrook Barham’s best.


    The unbeaten Kerang marked a 166-point win against Tooleybuc Manangatang at Kerang’s Riverside Park.

    The Blues led 36-nil at quarter-time and 69-12 by the long break.

    Kerang showed little mercy for the Saints as it slammed on 11.3 to nil in the third term and then scored seven goals in the last for a 185-19 result.

    It was a day out for Bradlee Pay as he kicked 10 goals.

    Other multiple goalkickers for Kerang were Rylee Smith, five; Josh Nitschke, three; Jesse Clark, Jordan McNeil and Sam Nitschke, two.

    There were no multiple goalkickers for the Saints. Junior players Kallum Hazlett and Rylee Taylor both scoring one goal each, with Ethan Goldfinch securing the only other major.

    Bradlee Pay, Sean Hunter, Rylee Smith, Josh Hann, Tyson Clingan and Jesse Clark were best for the Blues.

    Blake Grant, Ryan Domaille, Jaicob Kenny, Ethan Goldfinch, Harrison Maher and Connor McDonald played well for Tooleybuc Manangatang.


    Swan Hill had the bye.

    LAKE BOGA’S UNBEATEN RUN ROLLS ON

    LAKE Boga’s undefeated run in A-grade netball continued in Saturday’s 13th round of the Central Murray FNL season.

    The high-flying Magpies were on their court at Lake Boga to take on Mallee Eagles.

    It was first against fourth.

    Lake Boga led 12-9 at quarter-time and won the second term, 12-8.

    In the third the Magpies seized control to add 17 goals as the Eagles were held to a tally of seven.

    Mallee fought on strongly to win the last quarter, 18-12, but it was Lake Boga which took the points in a 53-42 victory.

    Goalers for Lake Boga were Sarah Hepburn, 38; and Katie Hepburn, 15.

    The Eagles’ attack was led by Kellie Walker, 28; and Megan Thorneycroft, 14.


    Balranald won a closely-fought contest on its court at Greenham Park with Tyntynder.

    The Kangaroos led 15-11 at quarter-time before Tyntynder fired up to win the second, 11-9.

    A two-goal lead for Balranald at the main break grew to six by the final change.

    In the final term the Roos scored 10 goals and Tyntynder added nine.

    At the final whistle Balranald led 48-41.

    The Roos’ attack was led by Ella Mirtschin, 30; and Jess Parry, 18.

    Tyntynder’s goalers included Kimberley Calvert, 25; and Kelsey Rowe, 15.


    The Demons from Nyah Nyah West United fired up to beat Koondrook Barham by 27 goals at Barham.

    The NNWU line-up led 33-19 at half-time and won the next two quarters, 16-10 and 16-9, to claim a 65-38 victory.

    Emily Fasham and Tatum Boyd scored 26 and 12 goals for Koondrook Barham.

    The NNWU attack included Stephanie Henson pouring in 28 goals.


    Kerang was too strong for Tooleybuc Manangatang at Kerang’s Riverside Park.

    The Blues led 18-9 at quarter-time and 33-21 after the second.

    Kerang won the next two terms, 13-8 and 11-4.

    Courtney Robertson hit a game-high 49 goals in the 57-33 result.

    The Saints’ attack included Shaniah Nunn on 16 goals.


    Woorinen roared to a 34-goal win at home against Cohuna.

    The Tigers won every quarter in their clash with the Kangas.

    After a 10-8 start, Woorinen scored 20 goals in the second as Cohuna added a dozen.

    From a 30-20 lead at half-time the Tigers roared their way to a 73-39 victory.

    Tayla Bennett scored 58 goals for the yellow and black as Emily Siely reached 15.

    Cohuna’s attack was led by Carmen Dye, 25; and Kobie McIvor, 14.

    Swan Hill had the bye.

    TIGERS TACKLE BALRANALD AT WOORINEN

    A SHOWDOWN between Woorinen and Balranald highlights this Saturday’s 14th round of senior footy in the Central Murray FNL season.

    The Tigers and Kangaroos feature in the match of the day in the 3SH-backed competition at Woorinen from 2.30pm.

    It’s a likely prelude to a qualifying final as both teams are locked on 40 points and hold second and third place in the premiership race.

    When these clubs met in round three it was Balranald which scored a 77-61 victory on its turf at Greenham Park.

    The Tigers and Roos carry winning form into this round.

    Woorinen one of the games of the season last Saturday as it fought to claim a two-point win at home against Cohuna Kangas.

    Will Collicoat and Danko Bzenic will play key roles in the Tigers’ attack, along with Ben Hunt and Daniel Mase.

    Best for the yellow and black against Cohuna included ruck-rover Jye Barry, wingman Taylor Cameron, rover Josh Domaille, and Dylan Godwin across the half-back line.

    Major threat to Woorinen’s hopes will be Ben Fuller who kicked eight goals in Balranald’s latest win against Tyntynder.

    A strong attack for the Kangaroos includes Matt Neagle and Jordan Wilkins.

    Players to watch for Balranald include Ethan Gant, Toby Lay, Ryan Middlebrook and Jydon Neagle.


    Refreshed by the bye, Swan Hill is at home to take on Mallee Eagles.

    The Swans beat the Eagles by 13 points at Lalbert in round three.

    A 6-5 record has Swan Hill in seventh place on the ladder.

    Best in an 82-point win against Tooleybuc Manangatang in the 12th round were Brenton  Halligan, Luke Phelan and Xavier Moloney.

    An attack led by Kallen Heslop, Zach Mihocek and Jose Miliado will test the Eagles.

    The Swans have a strong on-ball division of Toby Thoolen, Matt Wade and Brandon Houlihan.

    Held to a goal in the second half at Lake Boga last round, Mallee will be keen to hit back.

    Best for the Eagles against the Magpies included Beau Bennett, Josh Bibby, Harry McGregor and Zac O’Meara.

    Big roles for Mallee’s Angus McKenzie in the ruck, Harrison Allen in the centre, Paul Davis and Brent Macleod in attack.


    Kerang faces Nyah Nyah West United at Kerang’s Riverside Park.

    The Blues will be wary against a Demons line-up which is a win away from the fourth and fifth-placed Lake Boga and Cohuna.

    In round three, Kerang won at Nyah by 51 points.

    Kerang dominated last Saturday’s home game against Tooleybuc Manangatang to win by 166 points.

    Bradlee Pay kicked 10 goals against the Saints as Rylee Smith, Josh Nitschke, Jesse Clark, Jordan McNeil and Sam Nitschke joined in the scoring spree.

    A powerful Kerang line-up coached by Troy Coates includes Tyson Clingan, Josh Hann, Sam Heavyside, Nick Lang and Josh Hunter.

    The Blues’ defence is up against Hassan Ahmat-Watkins who kicked six goals as Nyah Nyah West United thrashed Koondrook Barham at Barham.

    The NNWU attack includes Charlie Boulton, Campbell Everitt, Dominic Gallo and Dean Harrop.

    Key players for the Demons are Brayden Bigham and Jarrod Skinner in defence, Corey and Riley Daniels, and Matt Gibbs.


    Koondrook Barham takes on Tyntynder at Barham.

    In round three, Tyntynder marked a 110-point win against the River Raiders.

    Tyntynder played well to be within 14 points of Balranald at three quarter-time last round.

    The Bulldogs could not stop the Kangaroos surging to a 39-point win.

    Players to watch for Tyntynder include Patrick Blake, Josh Dwyer and Justin Ellis in attack, Matt Gilbee at full-back, Josh Stone and Elia Ware.

    The Bulldogs have Cayden Crowe and Isaiah Bull in on-ball roles.

    Been a tough run for Koondrook Barham all season.

    Best for the River Raiders last round included ruck-rover Patrick Goble, ruckman Reagan Hamilton, and Colin McVeigh.

    Koondrook Barham will look to rover Eli Boyd, centreman Chester Gardner, and defenders Jordan Bassett, Jack Shannon and Kade Watts to compete well.


    It’s a bye for Cohuna, Lake Boga, and Tooleybuc Manangatang.

    KERANG WINS THRILLING SHOWDOWN WITH NYAH NYAH WEST UNITED

    KERANG’S unbeaten run in this year’s Central Murray FNL senior footy action was almost broken by Nyah Nyah West United in Saturday’s 14th round.

    The Blues and Demons met in the 3SH-backed competition clash at Kerang’s Riverside Park.

    The Troy Coates-coached Blues led 28-20 at quarter-time and 42-38 by the main break.

    In the third term it was Kerang which had plenty of the play to score 3.4 to 1.3.

    Although it started the final term facing a deficit of 17 points, NNWU lifted its play dramatically.

    The heat from the Demons forced mistakes from the reigning premier and was capitalised on brilliantly.

    NNWU scored 5.2 in a brilliant final quarter, but Kerang’s tally of 2.4 was enough to clinch an 80-79 victory.

    Michael Runciman kicked two goals for the Blues as nine team-mates featured on the goalkicking list.

    The Demons’ attack was led by Riley and Corey Daniels on four and two goals.

    Best for Kerang were Sam Heavyside, Josh Nitschke, Gregor Knight, Jesse Clark, Hayden Hall and Josh Hunter.

    Ethan Saville, Kayne Davidson, Campbell Everitt, Riley Daniels, Jaydyn Stirling and Ethan Curran starred for the Demons.

    Balranald marked a 40-point victory on Woorinen’s turf.

    The Kangaroos led 27-20 at quarter-time and 36-21 by the main break.

    Balranald had doubled Woorinen’s tally of 22 points by three quarter-time.

    In the last the Roos scored 4.2 to 1.2 to complete a 70-30 victory.

    Drew Lloyd and Jydon Neagle kicked two goals apiece for the Roos.

    A strong defensive effort meant Woorinen had no multiple goalkickers.

    Balranald’s best were Jaxon Neagle, Harrison Soraggi, Jack Salau, Jack Helgeland, Ethan Gant and Jack Jones.

    Best for the Tigers were Lachlan Gardner, Dylan Godwin, Doug Beames, Matt Gardner, Josh Domaille and Robbie Miller.

    Swan Hill overcame an 11-point deficit at quarter-time to beat Mallee Eagles by 26 points.

    The Eagles had plenty of the play in the opening term at Swan Hill and scored 4.2 to 2.3.

    In the second the Swans seized control to score 5.3 as the Eagles were held to just three behinds.

    A closely-fought third term went Swan Hill’s way, 20-18.

    Wayward kicking meant the Swans added seven behinds in the last, while the Eagles scored two behinds.

    At the final siren, Swan Hill led 10.15 (75) to 7.7 (49).

    Leading goalkickers for the Swans wer Zach Mihocek, three; Jack Charleson and Matt Wade, two.

    The Eagles’ attack was led by Andrew McDonald and Brent Macleod on two each.

    Swan Hill’s best were Matt Wade, Adam Manning, Zach Mihocek, Luke Phelan, Leighton Dullard and Toby Thoolen.

    Wes and Braidon Bennett, Harrison Allen, Billy and Zac O’Meara, and Jonah Devlin played well for the Eagles.

    Koondrook Barham could do little to stop Tyntynder’s charge to a 17-goal win at Barham.

    The Bulldogs made a brilliant start to score 5.6 to a behind in the first term.

    Tyntynder added 7.1 to 3.1 in the second, and 3.4 to 3.1 in the third term.

    Patrick Blake went on to kick five goals in a 143-41 victory for the Bulldogs.

    Other multiple goalkickers for the red, white and blue were Isaiah Bull and Josh Dwyer, three; Jordi Bibby and Justin Ellis, two.

    Corey Barrington kicked two goals for Koondrook Barham.

    Best for Tyntynder were Harry Simpson, Isaiah Bull, Matt Gilbee, Patrick Blake, Elia Ware and Josh Dwyer.

    Bill Barry, Colin McVeigh, Josh McMahon, Reagan Hamilton, Nathaniel Leonard and Jack Shannon were the Rivers Raiders’ best.

    SWANS WIN DUEL WITH EAGLES

    SWAN Hill won a closely-fought A-grade netball contest with Mallee Eagles in Saturday’s 14th round of the Central Murray FNL season.

    The Swans led 14-13 at quarter-time and 30-24 by the main break.

    In the third was when Swan Hill gained a sizeable break as it won the term, 17-13.

    Although the Eagles fought back strongly to outscore the Swans in the final term, 15-12, it was Swan Hill which claimed a 59-52 victory.

    Goalers for Swan Hill were Zoe Morris, 33; and Ingrid Condely, 26.

    The Eagles’ attack was led by Kellie Walker, 28; and Megan Thorneycroft, 24.

    Balranald scored a six-goal win against Woorinen.

    Scores were 13-all at quarter-time before the Kangaroos won the second term, 12-5.

    The Tigers clawed the margin back to six at a quarter to go.

    Both teams added 10 goals in the last as the Roos won 47-41.

    Balranald’s attack was led by Ella Mirtschin, 36; and Jess Parry, 11.

    Tayla Bennett scored 34 goals for the Tigers as Emily Siely added seven.

    After scores were 18-all at half-time, Nyah Nyah West United won the third term, 10-7 against Kerang.

    The Demons did not let up the heat in the last as they scored nine goals and held the Blues to a tally of seven.

    At the final whistle, Nyah Nyah West United led 39-32.

    Kerang’s attack was led by Courtney Robertson with 27 goals.

    Stephanie Henson scored 17 for the Demons.

    Tyntynder charged to a 73-34 win against Koondrook Barham.

    The Bulldogs won the opening two terms, 16-11 and 20-6.

    A 19-goal lead by the long break was 39 by the last.

    Kimberley Calvert scored a match-high 37 goals for Tyntynder as Kelsey Rowe added 36.

    Goalers for Koondrook Barham were Emily Fasham, 25; and Tatum Boyd, 9.

    KANGAS TACKLE UNBEATEN BLUES AT COHUNA

    COHUNA Kangas will be aiming to break Kerang’s unbeaten streak in the Central Murray FNL senior footy action this Saturday.

    The Kangas and Blues meet in the 15th round of the 3SH-backed competition at Cohuna from 2.30pm.

    It’s a rematch of the ’22 grand finalists.

    When these clubs last met in round four, Kerang won 96-58 at Riverside Park.

    Cohuna is back in action after the bye.

    The Tyson Findlay-coached Kangas start the round in fifth place.

    A great battle to qualify for the finals involves Lake Boga, Cohuna and Swan Hill all locked on 28 points.

    Nyah Nyah West United is a win away in seventh place.

    A key to Cohuna’s chances of beating Kerang will be the on-ball and midfield duels.

    The Kangas will look to ruckman Chris Anderson, Sam McGlone, Jarrod Findlay and Joel Helman to lead the way.

    Targets in Cohuna’s attack include Rhys Free, Dylan Johnstone and Mitch Treacy.

    The Troy Coates-coached Blues fought on for a one-point win against Nyah Nyah West United at Kerang last Saturday.

    Although it was outscored, 32-16 in the last, Kerang held for an 80-79 victory.

    Best in the Blues’ latest win included wingman Hayden Hall, rover Sam Heavyside, Gregor Knight and Josh Hunter in defence.

    Players to watch for Kerang include captain Josh Nitschke in the centre, ruckman Nic Lang, Jake and Nathan Hammond, and Bradlee Pay in attack.

    Nyah Nyah West United returns to Nyah to take on Swan Hill.

    The Demons almost caused the upset of the season last Saturday as Riley and Corey Daniels kicked four and two goals on Kerang’s turf.

    Swan Hill marked a 26-point win against Mallee Eagles last round.

    It’s another huge match for NNWU as it fights Swan Hill to stay in finals contention.

    Previous meeting between these clubs ended in a 32-point win for the Swans.

    Among the best for the Demons last round were Ethan Curran, Kayne Davidson, Campbell Everitt and Ethan Saville.

    Key forward Hassan Ahmat-Watkins has played some great matches for the Demons.

    Ruckman Matt Gibbs will be up against Swans’ star Toby Thoolen.

    Other key players for Swan Hill include Leighton Dullard, Jose Miliado, captain Luke Phelan and Matt Wade.

    Big test for a Swans’ defence that includes Thomas Corridan, Tom Holdstock, Xavier Moloney and Hamish Robertson.

    Tyntynder takes on Lake Boga at Alan Garden Reserve in Swan Hill.

    The Tyntynder Bulldogs marked a 17-goal win against Koondrook Barham at Barham last Saturday.

    Patrick Blake kicked five goals last round, but was not named for this round.

    The Bulldogs will look to Josh Dwyer, Jason Eagle and Wilhelm Hawkins in attack.

    Key match-ups for Tyntynder will be Matt Gilbee in the ruck against Jacob Simpson, and Isaiah Bull ruck-roving against Nathaniel Holmes-Brown.

    Lake Boga had the bye after a 74-point victory in the 13th round against Mallee Eagles.

    Best for the Eagles in that contest included Harrison Allen, Wes Bennett, Billy and Zac O’Meara.

    Mallee also has Paul Davis at centre half-forward, Angus McKenzie in ruck, Joe Halloran and Harry McGregor as key pillars in defence.

    The Saints are back on field after a bye.

    In round 13 the Saints were held to a tally of three goals at Kerang.

    The Saints will look for big games from the likes of wingman Ryan Domaille, Ethan Goldfinch at half-back, rover Blake Grant and Harrison Maher.

    Ben Doolan was named in the ruck for Tooleybuc Manangatang, Tom Carland in the centre, and Rylee Taylor at full-forward.

    A red-hot Balranald will be back on home turf at Greenham Park to take on Koondrook Barham.

    Last week’s 40-point victory at Woorinen was one of Balranald’s best of the season.

    Key players for the Kangaroos include Jaxon Neagle at centre half-back, Jack Salau in a back pocket, and Jack Jones.

    An attack that includes Ben Fuller, Drew Lloyd and Nathan Ablett will capitalise on chances created by the likes of Ethan Gant, Colin Andrews, Ryan Middlebrook and Jordan Wilkins.

    It’s been a tough run for Koondrook Barham all season.

    The River Raiders were outplayed by Tyntynder last round in a contest where Bill Barry, Regan Hamilton, Josh McMahon and Colin McVeigh were among the best for the KB line-up.

    This week’s team includes Jordan Bassett and Will Callow as key defenders, Mitch Christensen, Patrick Goble and Jack Thrum.
