LADDER LEADERS CLASH ON ULTIMA’S GROUND
LADDER leaders Ultima and Moulamein clash in Saturday’s 14th round of senior footy in the Golden Rivers FNL season.
Teams are back in action after last Saturday’s general bye.
Ultima has home-ground advantage for a showdown with the Swans which starts at 2.25pm.
When these clubs met in round nine, Ultima won 99-66 at Moulamein.
Scores were 16-all at quarter-time before the Roos seized control to score 6.5 to 1.3 in the second.
A closely-fought second half went Ultima’s way, 39-37.
Darcy Farrell kicked four goals to be among Ultima’s best with Mitch Makepeace, Kyle Symons and Jake Foster.
Been an outstanding season by Ultima to be 12-1.
Caillum Brady, Mitch and Tyler Makepeace and Mitchell Seton-Stewart have been among the most consistent for the Kangaroos.
Ultima’s line-up includes Jack Delmenico in the centre, ruckman Luke Doolan, Jake Foster and Kyle Symons as key defenders.
A strong attack for Moulamein features Andy Silva, Daniel Aarsman and Khy Stovell who are in the top seven on the goalkicking ladder.
Back in round nine it was Amos and Corey Farrell, captain Heath Moloney and wingman Ely Miller who were Moulamein’s best against the Roos.
The Swans’ line-up includes Blake Azzopardi, ruckman Heath Moloney, Luke Shannon and Cody Storm.
Macorna is at home to take on Murrabit.
The round nine showdown ended in an 85-69 win for Murrabit.
A fortnight ago, Macorna led 34-31 at half-time of its clash with Ultima.
The Kangaroos scored 5.4 to just two behinds in the third on the way to a 76-55 victory.
Best for the Tigers in that contest included Hunter Anset, Jack Featherby, Jacob McIntosh and Michael Roberts.
Macorna’s attack is led by Lachlan Ritchie.
At the other end, Murrabit has the competition’s leading goalkicker in Damian Cupido.
The former Brisbane Lions and Essendon forward has kicked 45 goals for the Blues.
Macorna named Liam Roberts at full-back.
Best in Murrabit’s latest hit-out which was a 91-97 loss at Wandella included captain Nathan O’Toole, Tobie Cameron and Cooper Williams.
The Blues will look to Rhys Carmichael, Ed and Jono Aujard, and Brayden Turvey to have a major impact on this contest.
The Wandella Bombers are back in the hangar to take on Hay.
Big test for the Bombers as Hay ended Ultima’s winning streak in the 11th round.
Wandella showed plenty of fight to overturn an eight-point deficit at three quarter-time into a one-goal win against Murrabit in the 13th round.
Best for the Bombers against the Blues were Adam Ward, centreman Russell Rich, Archer Lancaster and ruck-rover Tim Robinson.
The Hay Lions will be fired up after a 29-point loss to Moulamein two weeks ago.
Players to watch for Hay include ruckman Luke Arandt, ruck-rover Fergus Cattanach, Daniel Gash and Declan Watson.
Co-captains Kenneth Jubb and Brad Pocock have played well in many matches for the Lions.
