Murrabit Football Netball Club
Round 4 v Tyntynder 09/05/26
NETBALL
13 & Under Reserve
After a close first quarter, the girls lifted their intensity and powered away to a strong 28-9 win over Tyntynder. The team worked hard across the court and continued to build momentum each quarter. Keira McNeil impressed with her versatility and drive through the midcourt, while Jade and Lillian combined beautifully in attack to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Evie Worthy also played an important role with her determination and pressure around the contest.
13 & Under
The girls put together a strong four quarter performance to come away with a convincing 41-17 win over Tyntynder. After a close opening term, the team lifted their intensity and continued to build momentum throughout the game. Mabel Spitty was outstanding in goals with accurate shooting and strong movement in the ring, while Indi Millard worked tirelessly in defence to create pressure and win important contests. Emily Murray provided great drive through the midcourt, and Pippy Morton played an important role with her defensive pressure and teamwork across the court.
15 & Under
The Under 15’s fought hard in a tight contest, going into the final quarter level at 32-all before finishing strongly to come away with a 48-39 win. Stella was outstanding in goals with her calm and accurate shooting, while Harper worked tirelessly through the midcourt. Charlotte was strong in defence all game, and Imi impressed with her smart movement and determination around the court. A great team effort from all the girls!
17 & Under
The Under 17s were an exciting match with neither side giving an inch and the lead going back and forth between the sides throughout the game. 3/4 saw us down by 6 but the girls came out firing within the first minutes of the last quarter, leveling the score before Tyntynder could even score. Lyla Morton was incredible in the last quarter, winning back plenty of ball, Sadie Spitty and Stella Ettershank shot impeccably under pressure and Alexis McKnight stood tall as captain, reliably delivering the ball to goal and directing the play down the court.
B Reserve
The B res team played a great match with some great passages of play showing versatility across the court and combining well as a team. Erin Sharkey moved beautifully through the mid court, using strong drives and constantly presenting while Emmity Hartley was a strong, consistent presence in defence, applying relentless pressure.
B Grade
The B Grade girls unfortunately went down by 10 this week after staying right on the heels of Tyntynder throughout the game. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take away, with every player stepping up and playing their role on court. Jess Ryan by had a fabulous game in the goal ring, staying composed as ever and sinking shots from all over the ring. Erica Cummins was also
a valuable asset throughout the match, helping guide the play around the ring before switching into defence to help shut down the opposition. The team has shown great improvement over recent weeks and will be ready to take on Hay in two weeks’ time.
A Reserve
The vibes were high from the first centre pass, with A res coming out strong and taking control early. Our defence end dominated with Jaya Jenkins-Jaiswal in GK and Mila Bray in GD. Jaya’s consistent tips and taps were a game changer across the court, while Mila’s pressure and intercepts held strong all game, consistently delivering the ball back to the attack end. The girls walked away with a huge win and kept their undefeated streak alive — a massive team effort all around!
A Grade
It was a hard fought 10 goal win this week against Tyntynder. Both teams came out firing before a slight lull from our girls towards the end of the first quarter. After some words of wisdom from the coach at the break, the girls knew they had another gear in them and lifted in the second quarter, continuing to chip away throughout the game to come away with the win. Alexis McKnight continues to improve and impress each week with her strong drives through the midcourt and great connection with our goalers. Sadie Spitty showed real grit in the goal ring, while Katie Carmichael was dominant in defence before switching into goals, where she led with purpose and intensity.
FOOTBALL
Under 12's
The under 12s had a tough start against a bigger side in Tyntynder. 5 goals to zero at quarter time the side fought hard for the remaining 3 quarters and played some good footy eventually going down by 7 goals. Maya Henry continued her good form in the ruck and was joined by Beau Murray and Lenny Hein who also did well through the midfield. Other award winners for the day were Ryder Bray, Ruby Henry and Riley Danson.
Under 15's
The under 15s were up against it before the game had started with 2 late outs. To the boys credit they didn’t let that worry them, securing another win. With no swaps all game Parker, Archie and Jobe all ran out the game in the middle and all had very handy games. Little Tippa (Xavier Hein) had his best game for the year running up and down the wing for us all game and sneaking in 2 goals. Zane McKerrow led the way with the goals again kicking 3 and Matt Daniels played another great game.
Under 18's
The colts finally got their first win for the season. Watching the boys play showed a glimpse of our full potential. The return of Chase Coulter really left a significant impact in the forward line, marking and kicking everything - we are over the moon having him back in the side! Another special mention to the boys from Irymple, giving us a hand this week who also made their stance on the field. The
major ball winners were Cooper Hein, Sam Nending, Henry Ellison, Reid Jolliffe and Parker Bray who were outstanding for the four quarters.
Reserves
The Seconds got back on the winners list against a determined Tyntynder Football Club outfit. With plenty of outs, a mix of young and old replacements stepped up to help get the job done after trailing early in the final quarter. Matty Davies and Nathan Morrow were strong in and under the packs, while the father-son Hein combo provided plenty of run.
Seniors
The Seniors started well and played some good footy in the first half. Missed opportunities early in the third quarter proved costly before our intensity dropped away and we were overrun. Jack Shannahan led from the front and did all he could to carry the side, Ben Derbas was busy again through the midfield, and Jimmy Russo continued his good form with another impressive game. There was some soul searching after the game, but the focus now is on moving forward and building on the positives.
