Club Notes
& Team Lists

On Saturday, the Mallee Eagles proudly hosted the Central Murray Football Netball
League Preliminary Final at our home ground in Lalbert. The day was an outstanding
success, with many compliments received on the quality of the grounds, the
organisation of the day, and the warm hospitality shown by our club. It was a day to be
extremely proud as Eagles.
In addition to hosting responsibilities, the club had a strong presence on the court and
field with five Mallee Eagles teams competing for a spot in this year’s grand final. It was
a challenging day of results, with only one team advancing alongside our A Grade
netball side, who have already secured their place in the final after last week’s exciting
overtime victory against Barham. This marks the first time in 22 years that our A Grade
netball team has reached the grand final.
This year has been a remarkable one for the club, with eight teams finishing in the top
eight and competing in finals – a massive achievement and a testament to the talent
and dedication across all grades.
While the day didn’t bring all the results we were hoping for, the club is immensely
proud of the effort shown across every grade and the way our community came
together to host such a successful day. A huge thank you must go to our incredible
volunteers, not only for their tireless work in making the Preliminary Final such a
success, but also for everything they have done throughout the entire season – we
couldn’t do it without you.
Congratulations to our A Grade and A Reserves netball sides, who will both play this
coming Saturday for a chance to take home the premierships. Let’s get behind our
netballers and help get them over the line this Saturday.
The clubrooms will be open on Saturday night with dinner, drinks, and live music as we
celebrate the 2025 season together.
Netball Results
B Grade:
Mallee Eagles 39 were defeated by Nyah 44
From the coach: A tough game for the B-grade girls, unfortunately, as they went down to
Nyah by five goals. Our defenders played beautifully against some strong opposition.
We made an incredible comeback in the last quarter, and I am so proud of the girls for
not giving in and leaving it all out on the court. Well done to my girls on a terrific season.
Jess Gaut
A Reserves:
Mallee Eagles 64 defeated Kerang 29
From the coaches: A strong performance from our A reserve this weekend, defeating
Kerang by 34 goals. All seven girls contributed brilliantly, and those who stepped on
from the bench highlighted the depth across the whole team. A tremendous all-around
win! Looking forward to a huge game against Cohuna in the grand final. Jess Jobling &
Alicia Harvey
