Mallee Eagles Club Notes Round 2 V Swan Hill FNC

It was a big day out in Swan Hill on Saturday, with hot conditions testing all players across the board. Despite the heat, we came away with great wins across all senior grades – a fantastic effort all round!

Off the field, the club’s rotating dinner was a huge success, with over 100 people taking part in a fun and social evening. Thanks to everyone who helped organise and attended the night!

Seniors – Harry Allen (Co Coach)

Another strong performance where we gave ourselves plenty of opportunity in front of goals. Contribution from the entire team was pleasing, particularly in the heat. Our ability to run out the game was strong.

Best players: Darcy McGregor, Harry Allen, Wes Bennett, Ethan Pinchen, Zac O’Meara and Isaiah Bull.

Reserves – Dan Lavey (Co-Coach)

- In hot conditions it was a good win. We still have areas for improvement with our structures and game plan. Overall, we are happy with the result.

Best players: Ely Miller, Kobie Streader, Logan Nalder, Brady Fordham, Clinton Cummins and Clem Miller

A Grade - Jess Jobling (Co Coach)

- A strong win for the A grade girls on Saturday! Proud of the 4-quarter effort they played in the heat. Kasey Torr was unstoppable in attack providing drive all day, and Nev Roberts had a stellar second half in goalkeeper with many intercepts. Great game girls!

A Reserve - Jess Jobling (Co Coach)

- Another great win from the A res girls. Exciting to watch Clancy and Alix play some beautiful netball in their A res debuts. Awards: Emily Bookham and Sarah Young who were instrumental in defence with many steals all game.

B Grade - Jess Gaut

An exciting win from the B grade girls with an 11-goal turnaround from half time to win by 3. Great to see the girls pull together and secure the second win for the season. Fantastic to see Ava McCombe stand out in the ring for her first B grade game and Danika Meehan played beautifully throughout the mid court. Best: Ava and Danika.

B Reserve - Jess Gaut

A stellar start to the season for our b res girls, also securing their second win for the season. The girls got their hands to every intercept and worked together beautifully to covert goals in the attacking end. Amalie Taylor shot very well in her first game back for the eagles after 7 years and Sarah Middleton fed the ball seamlessly into the goalies. Best: Sarah Collins and Amalie Taylor.
