CMFNL LEAGUE PRESENTATION

What a night! A huge congratulations to all of our incredible award winners at this year’s CMFNL League Presentation. Each achievement is a testament to the hard work, talent, and dedication of our Kangas stars. We couldn’t be prouder to see so many of our own shining on the big stage – you’ve done the Kangas proud! 💜

GRAND FINAL BOUND – GO KANGAS!

The Cohuna Kangas are thrilled to have three netball teams competing on Grand Final Day – U17s, B Reserve and A Reserve. After starting finals with eight teams, we’re proud to see these three sides flying the Kangas flag and chasing premiership glory.

Under 17s Netball

  • Captain: Joelie Mathers
  • Coach: Catrina Robinson
  • Club Identity: Sandra Mackenzie

Our U17s have been outstanding all season, finishing as minor premiers and dropping only one game despite battling through injuries and illness. This brand-new team quickly gelled – from creek trips in pre-season to U15s girls stepping up when needed. Key milestones included Joelie, Abi, Jorji, and Charli all celebrating 100 games, and the girls united to honour the memory of Owen Swallow in a special show of respect. Their preliminary final win over Kerang – a side that had caused us heartbreak in previous years – was their best game yet and booked them a well-deserved place in the big dance. Focused, composed, and ready to go one better than last year.

B Reserve Netball

  • Captains: Eliza Homes & Jenna Grubb
  • Coaches: Catrina Robinson & Casey Spring
  • Club Identity: Sandra Mackenzie

B Reserve have been a model of consistency, going through the season undefeated apart from a Round 1 draw. With a defensive unit that has been near impossible to penetrate, this team has gone from strength to strength. Highlights included Eliza’s 100th game, juniors stepping up, and even Coach Catrina lacing up against Boga! The numbers tell the story – thousands of intercepts, over 600 goals, millions of steps in the midcourt – but more importantly, the bond within this group is unshakable. After falling just short last year, they’re determined to finish the job in 2025.

A Reserve Netball

  • Captain: Tannah Keely
  • Coach: Georgia Anderson
  • Assistant Coach: Anthea Toma
  • Club Identity: Sandra Mackenzie

From day one, A Reserve knew this would be a special season – and it has delivered. With stalwarts like Kobie, Tannah, Anthea and Skye leading the way, plus exciting inclusions such as Ash Gallagher returning to her junior club, the Kangas found the perfect mix of experience and fresh talent. The mid-season clearance of Paige O’Connell proved a masterstroke, forming an unstoppable defensive duo with Ash. Kobie’s sharp shooting at 95% week in, week out and the Palmer sisters’ commitment, travelling from Bendigo and Melbourne every week, summed up the spirit of this side. Having overcome strong opposition in Mallee, Kerang and Woorinen, the stars have aligned for this group to take another big step forward for the Kangas.

💜 Go Kangas – we’re proud of all three teams and will be cheering them loud and proud on Grand Final Day!

2026 COACHING ROLES – EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Expressions of interest are now open for football and netball coaching positions for Season 2026.

Great community coaches do far more than run drills. They help our juniors and seniors grow as people—building confidence, resilience and leadership; creating safe, positive spaces where kids learn teamwork, decision-making and how to handle both wins and losses with grace. High-quality coaching is one of the biggest reasons young people stay in sport, because strong coach–athlete relationships and player-centred environments boost enjoyment, wellbeing and long-term participation.

At Cohuna, player-first, child-safe coaching—built on clear fundamentals, positive reinforcement, and genuine care—helps athletes at every level thrive. That’s the standard we set, and the legacy we want our 2026 coaches to continue.

👉 If you’re passionate about developing people as well as players, we’d love to hear from you.
