KOONDROOK BARHAM FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB

“Round 9"

KOONDROOK BARHAM FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB

Another huge day at Raiders Central hosting the undefeated Woorinen Tigers, we also hosted our past players reunion from the former Koondrook and Barham clubs plus the Raiders. To say it was a big day would be understatement, unfortunately it was soured due to a couple of nasty injuries that two of the Raiders footballers suffered during the course of the day. Young Colts player Xavier Leonard was concussed due to a sling tackle and had to be taken to hospital, now we all know the outcome of these sling tackles so the CMFL should instruct all clubs to pass this message onto all their players that  they are unnecessary in today’s game, the message should also be passed onto the people controlling the game to take the appropriate action against the player concerned, otherwise it will get outa hand. In the Reserves our player Billy Seymour suffered a season ending injury when he got tangled up in a scrimmage in defence and ended up with a broken leg, consequently the game was held up for nearly an hour whilst waiting for the ambulance. It was very bad luck for Billy who is a popular member of the Ressy’s team so the club sends their best wishes to both Xavier and Billy and hope their recovery is swift and complete.

Following the senior game all our supporters and players were treated to a delicious roast meal followed by the “Win Your Weight in Beer” competition. Congrats to Evie Snowdon on gaining selection in the 25/26 Vic Country cricket U 16 female emerging players squad, a fantastic effort. The Seniors lost but were not disgraced, to many turnovers brought us undone. Awards in the Seniors went to Roy George (Counterpoint Man of the Day), Roy played his first game with the Raiders in this match and we saw why they team chased him so welcome to the club Roy, Jacob Barrington (HMF Award), Isaac Corvo (Barham Caravan Tourist Park), and Harry Bremner (Barham Hotel voucher). Others to play well were Nathan O’Toole & Jack Shannon. The Ressy’s, well didn’t they turn it on, kept their more highly rated opponents goalless, let’s see that continue though!. Awards went to Matt Lolicato (Wes Hare Scooby of the Day), Scott Woods (Matesy’s voucher), Lachy Laursen (Mitre 10 award), and Jye McGowan, others to play well were Matt Dean and Tommy Amor. (Barham Hotel voucher). The Colts got another win on the board to keep their 4th position on the ladder secure, it was also a very good win. Awards went Mitch Lowry (Raiders Socks), Riley Ziewlecki (Don Taylor Pen), Jaxon O’Rourke (Wilma Bott Canteen voucher), and Riley D’Silva(Hard Yakka HMF), Coaches Cash went to Ryleigh Wilkinson.

Okay this Saturday we play Balranald we are home again, two in a row what  happened to the draw there!. It is a game that we need to win!.

After the game this weekend the social committee have planned another big event, it’s a trivia night and going on the previous trivia night they had it should be another fun filled night. So get your teams in asap, 2-10 people per table at $100 per table, 7pm start.

Score: Raiders 26 were defeated by Woorinen 77

Award 1 went to Carlie Maher

Award 2 went to Amy Haw

The toughest game we have played yet versing the top team who is undefeated. Not looking at the score line it was the best game we have played all season. The girls really stepped up to the plate this week and should be proud of themselves.

A reserve

Score: Raiders 33 were defeated by Woorinen 41

Award 1 went to Abby Paul

Award 2 went to Sienna Disher

The girls played well today against a tough side. The defensive pressure needed to be better and voices were low. Plenty of things to work on at training. Shoutout to Eve Snowdon for coming on and killing it in goals. Abby’s footwork in the ring was good and Sienna had a strong game out at goal attack.

Coming off two byes proved to be quite difficult this weekend, which was expected! The girls worked tirelessly all game with so many positives to take from the game and still sorting out our new combinations. Disappointed with the loss but know that we have so much more to give which is exciting!! Everyone now has even more fire in their bellies for next weekend.
