“Round 2"

Wow!, what a huge day at Raiders Central last Saturday when we hosted our first home game for the season, and in front of a massive crowd at that, who all relished the warm weather. We had a few golf trips in attendance as well as our Annual visitors in the Langwarrin boys who normally put the moz on us when they turn up but thankfully they didn’t this time so maybe the spell has worn off!!. It was another very successful day where we won every game of footy and all but 3 games of netball. We played host to the 2024 premiers in Nyah Utd). The Seniors withstood a barnstorming finish by the Nyah boys to hang on for a close victory, the Ressy’s continued on their winning way as did the Colts, Under 15’s and Under 12’s. The wood raffle was won by Reggie Hamilton. The ”Last River Raider Standing” event was held last Satdy evening, all tickets were sold which is a fantastic effort by Macy and Kayla to get that done, the last two tickets belonged to Steven And Tania Thomas and Toni Keane, so they both agreed to split the prizemoney so congrats to those winners. Another hugely successful event conducted by our hard working social club. Memberships are now available plus we have plenty of Raiders apparel available.

Now onto our footy from last Saturday, big game by the Under 12’s (10 goals), close win by the Under 15’s (8 pts.), Colts (73 pts.), Ressy’s (63 pts.) and a hard fought win in the Seniors (9 pts).

Awards in the Seniors went to Benji Neale (Counterpoint Man of the Day), Kye Attwell (HMF Award), Harry Bremner (Raiders towel), and Matt Bilton (Barham Hotel voucher). Others to play well were Reggie Hamilton, Kyall Parker, Harry Bremner and Lee Dale. The Ressy’s had another good win, took a while to get going but when they did they ran away with it. With some players yet to come into that side positions could be at a premium. Awards went to Louis Cain (Wes Hare Scooby of the Day), Rylan Attwell (Matesy’s voucher), Jordan Bassett (Mitre 10 award) and Lachie Laursen (Barham Hotel voucher). The Colts had another very good win, they have put together a pretty good team and are playing some very good footy. Awards went Kynan Laursen (Raiders Socks), Riley Zielicki (Don Taylor Pen), Mitch Lowry (Wilma Bott Canteen voucher), and Jaxon O’Rourke (Hard Yakka HMF), Coaches Cash went to Riley Davis.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers that helped out on the day, it takes an army of people to keep things running on home games and no club can do without them, our club is in that category but going on the roll up we got there last Saturday the club is in good hands. However, we can still have more, if you want to get involved don’t be backward in coming forward to help out!.
