KOONDROOK BARHAM FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB

“RIVER RAIDERS FINALS CHARGE NOT OVER YET”

Bit of a mixed bag after results from last weekends first week of finals. As always once we drive past Kerang no luck when it comes to winning a game football, the same old factors come into play every time!. We covered a fair bit of territory over the weekend, and we have more to come in the next couple of weeks!. The Ressys were first up, bit of a patched up side due to injuries they’ve got lately, six of their good players not playing was always going to make it hard for them, but they stuck with their opponents for most of the game but poor disposal, missing targets and goals let them down. So its make or break this Sunday against Lake Boga at Tooleybuc. However our A Grade netballers won their game. Then Sunday we had our Under15’s up against Tyntynder in the first of our do or die games, the boys fought like a Raider does and hung on for a four point victory, a fantastic effort by the whole team, so they also progress to the 1st semi at Tooleybuc on Sunday, good luck boys. Then we had our Colts display their wares against old foes in Cohuna Kangas, two wins against them during the season should have held them in good stead to make it three, but, finals are a different breed of footy as the Raiders boys found out because the Kangas boys outplayed the Raiders team in a disappointing end to their season!. Finally, the Senior team graced the ground where the Grand Final is played every year!, in a much anticipated game against last years premiers. A very slow start by the Raiders meant we were chasing tail all day, think we got within 3 goals at one stage but never hit the front. A bit of a surge in the last qtr with five goals to two but it was all to late. Best players were Jacob Barrington, Jack Shannon, Lee Dale, Roy George, Reagan Hamilton & Benji Neal. But, on a positive note as a club the Raiders have made huge inroads in 2025 making the finals with several football and netball teams is testimony to that, which will no doubt give us a huge incentive to go even further in 2026!. As stated prior the Ressy’s lost to a much more committed side. Best players were Lachy Vagg, Louis Cain, Tom Amor, Ash Molin and Rylan Attwell. The Colts got surprisingly beaten. Awards went to Riley Davis (Raiders Socks), Riley Zielicki (Don Taylor Pen), Ryder Laursen (Wilma Bott Canteen voucher), and Kynan Laursen (Hard Yakka HMF), Coaches Cash went to Mitch Lowry. The

Under 15’s won by 4pts. in a bit of a cliffhanger so they now progress to the 1st semi also. Best players were Alex Chisholm, Nate Pretty, Dustin Bohn, Ryan Roberts, Brodie Hall and Eddie Puddick.

We will be hosting the 2nd Semi this Saturday., all hands on deck required, footballers, netballers, supporters, mother nature looks like looking after us with a temp of around 22-23deg so good crowd expected, if anyone can lend a hand you will be quite welcome to chip in!.

On the 14th Sept it’s the Raiders end of season Presentation Day at the clubrooms, all footy and netball awards will be presented.

At Raiders Central this Saturday as we will have our A Grade playing, hopefully they can move onto the Granny. Final. On Sunday we go to Tooleybuc for our Reserves, Under 15’s and Under 17’s netballers to keep advancing to the Prelim. Final, let’s see the Raiders army up there again make their prescence felt in support of our footy & netball teams, good luck to everyone involved!
