KOONDROOK BARHAM FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB

Okay, another one of our multitude of byes outa the way, but wait there’s more, we have another one coming up before the season ends, think it’s on the 15th August, it’s a split round for some unknown reason!. So we will put that bye in the locker and focus on the upcoming matches and hopefully win enough games to sneak into the top eight. We have lost 5 winnable games by less than 3 goals which sort of proves that our best is good enough but we just haven’t got the killer instinct when needed.

So this weekend is where it starts, we play our arch rival in Kerang and to say we need to win this game would be the understatement of the century, they have been going well this year so it won’t be easy!. Let’s hope we can get a full team on the paddock this week as we haven’t been able to all year, think we are well overdue to get back on the winners list!. Wins in all grades is the order of the day. Yours truly happened to watch a couple of good football docos in the last couple of weeks. One was about how the Sydney Swans broke their p’ship drought called “Shaking Down the Thunder”, the other was about how the Brisbane Lions achieved their back to back flags called ”Run Towards the Fire”, Chris Fagan explained that this motto was used for their 2025 P’ship campaign meaning players should run towards the fire i.e. the play, and not away from it, the heat is where you want to be, both were excellent docos giving an insight into how each club approached their games each week and leading up to their biggest game of the year i.e. their respective grand finals. If any footballers or anybody for that matter get a chance to watch these docos I recommend they do so, they are very motivational, especially for footballers. Obviously it’s been a tough few weeks on the field but hats off to all our volunteers who continue to rock up week in, week out so give yourselves a pat on the back as you deserve it!.

Also, we had some young Raiders play some Inter League football last weekend at Swan Hill, Ted Hobson, Nate Pretty, Tennyson O’Neill, Mac Lake all represented the Raiders in the CMFL games and acquitted themselves well. Another feather in our cap is that some of our young Raiders have caught the eye of the GWS Giants, Angus McDonald, Wal McDonald, Nate Pretty, Tennyson O’Neill and Mac Lake are all participating in academy programs for the GWS, well done to all those promising young Raiders.
